i don't have any power backup!! i don't even need any.. anyway i'd like ti file against them in consumer court too, but will wait and see how the other case works out

grrr... u are one of the happy customers. stop being greedy. :lol:i am in not for money, but for substance. to set an example. that customers know that they are being exploited. and they can fire back.

One of the worst things about dial-ups, which doesn't exist on Sify. While I am on this or any other forum thinking about what to write, I would still be getting charged by the second, every second, for staying online :P

that have packages that would do that. so no, they are no better than dialup. :)

Hmm, yeah, talking about the present, the price isn't a factor after all. We have dial-ups for Rs. 700/month now also. The speed might be an advantage for Sify , when some of us at some times, touch 6-7 kBps on Sify for the same price that dial-up will stay at 2-3 for.But of course, as you said, there are a host of other things wrong with Sify as compared to dial-ups. I guess it's a bit of a subjective matter influenced by our past net access methods and what kinds of problems we face with Sify now.In the end I will say that I am glad that the days of dial-up net access charging by the minute is over. And I haven't tried the present bunch of fixed monthly rates dial-ups, so I wouldn't know :)

Would beg to disagree if that is put up as a collective opinion because some of us here get good speeds and have not had too many problems with sify (except perhaps the really terrible customer support as compared to something like Bharti's). But after tasting broadband, dialup is a definite no-no for me however cheap it works out.

have u tasted broadband on sify? tell me this, does your connection give you constant connectivity of speed that is atleast 256kbps?if you think that getting better than dialup is broadband or even good enough, than well i am sorry to say... you just promote companies to exploit you even more.

I get a steady 122-124 kbps of the promised 128 kbps most of the time. Which I think is decent. I was on Airtel DSL before this and I used to get downstream of anything between 40-80 kbps of teh promised 128 kbps. Nothing higher than that ever. So, I think as of now I have a decent deal and a lot cheaper. When I was on dialup, my monthly bills used to touch 1500. Moving to Airtel DSL, I got better speeds that dialup. But my monthly bills still touched 1500 with their most cost efficient schemes. With Sify, especially with the Night unlimited package, I think I have the best deal todate. It costs me just 360 bucks a month and covers most of the hours that I am usually online. And I don't go by someones definition of what broadband is. My sis gets 1 MBps in the US with her broadband connection. Obviously I cannot compare myself with what she gets and crib that I get a raw deal out here. All these are dictated by market forces (Availability and Demand). And on what basis is 256 kbps declared as the threshold for differentiating broadband. Why not 512 kbps? or 1 MBps? Any idea?Sorry, but I am a customer just like you. I am not here out to promote some company because it doesn't benefit me in anyway to do it. And like I said earlier as well, there are two things that I don't like about Sify ....unreliability of the connection as compared to Airtel DSL, and their customer support. Otherwise, I think they are OK. If I was promoting the company, I wouldn't be cribbing about it, would I?But then I think my experience so far has been more pleasant than what you have gone through and so I don't blame you for your opinions. :) I am only saying that if you are stating a collective opinion, I beg to disagree with you on the same.
