Airtel has now adopted a policy to charge Rs. 30 for picking up the payment cheque from your house. Considering that they have a poor Dropbox network in my area, I have been availing of the facility for months and months at no extra charge. But now they will charge Rs. 30. Got the charge reduced for this month, but from next month onwards they will charge.

While it's not completely unreasonable to charge for an extra service, it's unreasonable to not have charged for so many months, but now start charging people once they have got used to this service. :madness:

so this is 2nd time airtel added charge without customer knowing. (even though they reduced it later)earlier it was for caller ID and now this. so i guess they are also implementing policy of adding additional charges, if customer notices then discount it, or else fill pockets.

they're all the same bunch of looters!!!the other day, i called up ABN AMRO bank to send someone to collect the check for my payment, and the CC lady said, they don't send anyone at anyone's place...but earlier when I was a bit late to pay the bill, they sent an executive to my place to collect the check...so they'll always see how they fill their pockets...customer satisfaction (or service) comes well after that...

Opt for Electronic Clearing Service. Two three years back Airtel gave a one time discount of Rs 300 to opt for ECS.For BSNL I opted for ECS long back ,six or seven years ( don't remember exactly). I get 1% discount on the total bill and debited only on 1st.Any dispute about the bill, you can approach the A.O before they send the statement to RBI .Even Online payment has been introduced by Airtel/BSNL.

AFAIK there's no option to pay online for Airtel Broadband. Anyway, I am not much of a fan of paying online for such things, considering how rudimentary and unprofessional online payment can be here. Besides, I always prefer to have the good ol' paper receipt in case there is any dispute.

^^^^^ me too
have been paying my airtel bills online for almost a year.. no probs whatsoever

@vebmetal

what receipts ?? :P it will be in the credit card statement anyway :D

1.ECS is through the bank. You authorize your Bank to debit the Airtel/BSNL Bill amount. BSNL dues are debited on first of the month. ( So far no service charges/taxes by the bank/s!!) ECS: Electronic Clearing Service credit card/debit card online payment Collection at home Drop box for cheque - nearest Airtel outlet Cash payment at counter --nearest Airtel outlet. The choice is yours. AIRTEL, can think of authorising their Public telephone call shop owners to collect the crossed cheque/ and pay them a commission on bill amount./or cheques collected. ( Like BSNL shops) and pay them a small commission of the bill amount ,
