dont disable adsl2+ or anything. if u face issues just switch off and switch on your modem after 30-40 seconds. 90% of the times all issues are resolved this way. and i am using a D-Link 2750u adsl modem, not the airtel beetel one.

The SNR is jumping between 6 and 12 at different time of the day.

@swa8608 do you see a behaviour like that on your connection?

I will probably buy a Broadcom chipset based modem/router TP-Link W8968 v4 and use it as a dumb modem.

I have the above TP-Link modem/router , id read on their twitter account that it is broadcom based, they'd tweeted this, but really still unsure.About it though, using it since around 6 months now, and it's perfect.no drops whatsoever.W8968 V4 here

Here you go

I have asked them for 16mbps umpteen number of times but they keep spouting nonsense about distance from the RSU yada yada.Wont rest till they cave in and give me 16mbps lol :p

Is this connection in Lucknow? You will need to keep trying :)

Looking at your attenuation you seem to be further away from the exchange as i am. However you don't have any HEC errors so your line is good.

My SNR dropped from 30 to 9 when i moved from 2mbps to 16mbs, although the connection has been stable.

Nope, I'm from Kolkata. My line is already 8mbps :p so I think it'll handle 16mbps. It's just reluctance on their part God knows why. My attenuation used to be 15, it's increased a bit only recently. Anyhow, <20 is considered to be outstanding, so isn't a problem. Btw many people have 16mbps in Kolkata already, guess a bit more of pushing them on my part should work.

No idea of what that is. Afaik, there's no monitor/interface settings on this one. Could be that I'm wrong though. Guide me on what it is? May be able to find it if it's available.

i came to know from airtel customer care that for upto 8mbps the snr should be above 10 and for 16mbps the snr should be above 6. as u saw it was 12 when i was on 8mbps..yesterday i upgraded to 16mbps same plan and snr dropped to 6 which should be slightly more around 8-9..let c how it works for few days or i will downgrade to 8mbps again.
