₹1800 a month
sad doctor who GIF

My excitel plan will change to 300mbps from 19th oct. Hopefully it would perform better.
I am getting hopeless speed on 300mbps plan even on local node.
Speedtest on router(itself) barely touches 200mbps which mainly uses excitel ookla server.
While using 5ghz standing next to router is mostyl touching 150mbps.
Shows how choked up bandwidth is on excitel EPON olt.
At peak time 80-100mbps on excitel local server regardless of plan.
Havn't selected international servers yet.
only good thing is i am paying 556 per month for this 300mbps plan.

traceroute to 1.1.1.1 is awesome now. TATA is peering with CF now in India?

Yes, I'm seeing similar traceroute results with vsnl Kolkata hostname instead of vsnl Delhi. Maybe, they were testing things out and this is why tata upstream was directing all Cloudflare traffic to Singapore last month.

@JB701 Hows your new excitel connection compared to powernet ? Specifically speeds on international servers.
Also i m looking for good wifi router with good coverage ( specifically on 5ghz).
I saw most of the people here recommending TP-Link c6. Is it really any different from a6 v2 ?
Which router are you using ?
@varkey

I am having archer a6 v2 but 5ghz coverage drops drastically across another room with 1 wall ( 4inches thich , equivalent to 1brick thickness) .
Link speed drops from 433mbps to 97 or 130mbps . 5ghz on flooor just above the router is non existent. Phone doesnt connects on 5ghz on upper floor.

@AAK I'm using TP-Link EAP245 Access Point for WiFi. I have also used Ubiquiti Unifi AP AC Lite. Both are very good but I've found that EAP245 gets better link speed after 1 wall.

As for router I'm on x86 PFSense box.

I get ~50-60MB/s transferring files from my Wired home server to laptop on wifi with one wall in between.

Concrete is very hard for WiFi to punch through. I would suggest getting one AP for each floor.

...

About the first question, on powernet atleast on my LCO, speeds to non-peered servers were capped lower than plan speed. For example on 300Mbps plan, I straight up can't get above 180-200Mbps on npn-peered servers. Also, Excitel is way way cheaper. I paid like ~5500 ish for 9 months with no install fee.

Here is Powernet review

But Excitel Fiber isn't perfect either. Speeds are a bit all over the place for intl servers. Sometimes I get full speeds other times its a bit low. This is test at 12Noon ish.

All the tests were done on Wired connection btw.

I use VPN with Excitel because it gives a more consistent international speeds.

Is it normal for 5ghz link speed to drop from 433 to 97-130mbps across 1 wall on same floor(that too 1 brick thick only) or my router is faulty ?
Can you suggest some good router+wifi combo for good coverage and speeds ?
@JB701

Could be some interference? I'm not sure it doesn't drop that bad with one wall for me.

Have you tried with another device?

You could go with EAP245, it's only WiFi ac though but still very good. Use your current Archer C6 in another floor?

Archer C6 does bare routing perfectly fine so I don't think that's the problem.
