os x lion had released thunderbolt display firmware. after updating that my mbp screen went kaput displaying snowy background with a big black strip in the middle. luckily it was under warranty,as i had purchased just 5mnths back. gave to the service centre, they were searching for a single scratch to pinpoint the blame on the consumer, but they couldn't find any on the display as well as the aluminium body. they have given a timeframe of 1 week for the repair, let's see what happens next.

and i thought Apple were more generous with their replacements :|

Yeah they are, my MBP trackpad was broken, the replaced it for free, but took 1 week as the get replacement parts by courier from Bangalore

Gold Master build will be released 26th September.
You can happily download it on 27th. Gold Master build = Final = RTM = The same which will be released to public on 4th October Apple event. :)

You can't delete individual pics from the cloud. So all your pics go there. If you have to delete any, you ll have to reset the entire photo stream. This is the major issue for me unless there exists a way to delete individual pics.Meanwhile Box.net (a third party cloud storage app) is offering 50GB of free storage for anyone who downloads their app till December start. It is not as user friendly or feature rich as Dropbox and there is a file limit (100 MB) but it PWNS Dropbox as far as free storage is concerned (Dropbox offers 2GB of free storage).

“iCloud Backup” – Marco.org

Marco Arment had a bad experience with an Apple Genius. He is surprised. So am I.

The other day, my grandfather asked me if he could get rid of the who-knows-what PC for good, but he wanted to make sure that he could transfer his stuff to a new iPad in the future if this one ever broke. (Good question.) I told him to bring it to the nearby Apple Store and have them set up “ICLOUD BACKUP” for him. (He wrote that down.)

I figured that a “Genius” would quickly figure out whether it still had iOS 4, and if so, would just update it to iOS 5 or 6 and then set up iCloud backup.

But instead of doing what I assumed would be a non-destructive update, the Genius did a restore. And, apparently, didn’t explain what that was going to mean.
