Apple iOS

With iOS7, the new foundation is solid & massive but it doesn't have unification & consistency. I was so impressed with the presentation. But after playing around a couple of days on my 4S, I am surprised by seemingly unfinished design.
The Icons. Did they put some of them on Sunday night? There's no common design language between iMessage, Game Center, Camera, Photos and Music. No common color scheme. What's with the icon of Newsstand? 5-year-old kid must have created that. Some icons gradients while some not. Did the designer of the Weather icon actually open up and use the app? And in what way the colored blobs have anything to do with Game Center? Camera icon is different in different places. Did Jony & other guys actually got a chance to look at the homescreen before Monday morning?
The foundation is strong but they are not there yet. Lots of work remains. And this really confirms the rumors about iOS7 running *behind*. Unavailability of beta releases of iPad is yet further pointer of their situation. I personally think they will be tweaking the look in the coming months.
This really is a new way of doing things for Apple because under Steve, thing would not see the light of the day until it was perfect. This whole public beta - it would be interesting to see how everyone reacts and adjust to style of doing things which is very different for Apple but one that I think is good.

Well. It is not exactly a public beta since it is not available as a public download. :)

Read on idownloadblog that the marketing team designed the awful icons. Guess what, we know why they are so bad. But it also mentions that it is work in progress and there might be changes later. I hope there are changes to icons and things people are complaining about in iOS 7.
