my main concern with Apple is why is it so closed, and also Apple fanboys, they see value when there is none, this is a classic example,in february my friend requested me to bring him iphone3g unlocked one for ****in $ 499 I did, in excitement to show it to every one he flipped it and had a crack in glass on side...fanboyism and no cuystomization is the killer factor till date and now I got anther reason, LOW QUALITY of cosmetic hardware.. NO iPhone for me plz, even with siri.....aslocan I like toocools comment more than once plz admin....

Sony Ericsson's new mobiles have "scratch resistant glass".Now I am not sure if they are fall resistant as well. Can anyone drop their SE mobile and confirm??Thank you please but dont forget to post the video!

almost all companies use gorilla glass. no company has their own proprietary technology for the same. i think even defy uses the same in addition to additional safeguards.

These drop down tests can be highly unreliable. Not that iPhone 4 has great build quality and would never break. Infact being of glass body it would break easily. However the Galaxy S or S II can also break depending on the angle, force etc. We have 2 Samsung I9000 Galaxy S and the screen of one has broken twice!Gorilla glass doesnt matter as it provides resistance against scratches with no/negligible help if dropped.

the illustration was for showing how fragile iPhone is for the premium dumbases pay for it, of course everything breaks, WILL break, but it is expected that these devices can sustain this kind of fall,as these are pretty common and Can/will happen IRL thus it tried to show that in a very common situation Apple will fail where as samsung will survive.. Or in business language SAMSUNG gives more BANG for the buck than IPHONE..

CORNING® GORILLA® GLASS | FAQS

Can I break Gorilla Glass?

If subjected to enough abuse, Gorilla Glass can break. However, Gorilla Glass is better able to survive the real-world events that most commonly cause glass to scratch, chip, or break.

Well based on above answer, I think it clearly implies that Gorilla glass is fall resistant as well.

iPhone 4 has a glass body thus it would definetely break upon falling in comparison to Galaxy phones which have plastic body. This is well known so the person should make his choice carefully. Just like an expensive crystal glass would break and a plastic one would survive!
