hehe. well. i do need this connection anyways. and if it does take 7 days, i would see what my options are. the sales guy of my area promised that it would be installed by monday. checking that claim. in any case, companies tend to take it safe in writing.

they removed their 2mbps plans. the only useful plan is the 999 1mbps.

that is one of the many reasons, why i would not stick with them.

if they had retained the unlimited 2mbps plan, i would have thought about retaining them.

----------

freaking arse____

Great that you are getting mailers. I too filled the online form yesterday and got call todays morning . Same old feasibility Issue, but this time he offered me Wi-Max based Internet.

Now waiting for Tikona guy today to come and give Demo :Wait:

the dude who landed at my place was a typical salesman. had no idea about what he was selling.

took me a while to make him understand what my definition of unlimited was.

had no idea what the upload speed was on the 999 plan.

had no idea about the login bypass options.

talked to his senior, he was an even bigger ignorant ass.

----------

made a couple of clear false promises. that i can call in to reliance customer care and ask them to disable the need for login on their website.

also told me that once i am a customer i can fight to get better packages (blah blah) by threatening to disconnect and so on...

it was a typical experience i was expecting with reliance. no shockers.

i was pretty much annoyed at the whole experience. i almost decided to not go for it once i realized that static ip option is not available on residential connections.

the senior guy was pretty adamant that resi customers are not supposed to get static ip features. and it is the same case with all other ISPs.

i actually wanted to kick that guy's ass for being an ass.

Relaince has a nag for calling all their plans unlimited even when they are not specifically those which are charged per mb they call them unlimited.

heh yeah. the dude did not even had official reliance brochures. just a localized pamphlet with his own name and telephone number. the package details on that page were so wrong... i wanted to punch him for showing it to me.

my mausi used that reliance USB connection they were told they will get some speed with unlimited data download they just dont tell data is charged after some 2GB or 5GB usage like this they probably were tortured by reliance for maybe more than a yr and their bills coming to as much as 2K or more a month.... off course there was constant argument between them and reliance which went on nd now they are so terrified of using net that they have shifted to some crappy tata cable connection in Mumbai :P They would have left Reliance long time back they did nt have other iSP covering their area and most ppl are not even aware of the FUP and data limits they have on their plans....Anil Ambanai is one of the biggest scamster no wonder he ended up in 2G scam would have probly ended up in Jail too......

Really Sushubh? I think you are being unduly harsh, granted that Reliance has a very aggressive door-to-door approach in areas where it's feasible for them to provide a connection but it is my experience that once they do so, they certainly live up to their promises as far as consistency of service and speeds are concerned. There is of course the sheer incomprehension (feigned or real), of the customer support team when you report the occasional downtime but apart from that their unlimited plans are truly so in the low to middle range speed packages. I don't think Airtel has a leg to stand on when comparing prices and unbilled data usage, or even reliability for that matter.

well my problem is with how they sell things.

i want to deal with a person who knows about the shit he is selling and is truthful about it.

i actually got some details from this dude. he gets around 7k as salary. and his commission starts after 10 connections per month. from what i remember from my conversation, he gets 200 rupees per connection after 10 connections. 300 rupees after another milestone is reached.

i do not think airtel has such a system in place.

reliance sales people have a lot of incentive to provide false information to lure more customers.

----------

a question. have you ever been an airtel broadband customer?

You are not harsh, when a person is misleading you he deserves his ass kicked at the speed of 1mbps.
