Why you not opted for some 3g service, may be MTNL 1 month unlimited... That way you would have a backup plan always, in case you need a backup connection again ?

hehe. that is something i do worry about. i would try to follow the procedure to get the connection disconnected properly.

i did the same with an airtel connection i had disconnected a couple of years ago.

i called in every month to see if there was any pending charges and if the connection was still enabled.

only after 2-3 months did i get satisfied with it :)

Yup...now a days everything has to be re-checked. I surrendered airtel 6 months back, after 3 months they sent me a check for Rs.220 & then again after 3 months they sent me a Rs.280 check. I dont know how they have calculated my last bill & deposit amt(Rs.1000)

I just called the Reliance local sales person he came in 45min with forms and printed plan paper. I told i will get back to you later as i have my other connection running. I told him i don't want landline and i requested for a metro ethernet connection. He offered 500kbps for Rs 500 and 1/2mbps D/N Plan for 1500. Installation charges are Rs 500.

Reliance rep is here :P

oh man. i am still getting decent speeds from airtel. i now want to get rid of this reliance connection. the check has still not been cashed. i am wondering whether i should stop payment on the check and tell reliance folks that i changed my mind?

----------

someone please tell me that it is ok to stop payment on the check? they have not done anything yet. no wiring. nothing. i have just submitted the paper work. of course, if i cancel the check, i would refuse any installation. so that should be fine.

Shouldn't be a problem, especially if you have been promised a connection within a specified period. But this deposit thing is new to me, i didn't have to pay anything for my connection, and it was activated within 5 days of the rep's visit, modem, cabling and telephone all installed free of charge..However, i would suggest that you keep the connection, change your plan to a low end one, Reliance is a good back-up to have, you might change your mind about Airtel if you have something in comparison.

i would have loved to keep reliance if they still had their now discontinued plans. i really have no interest in a 1mbps plan anymore :(

----------

ah well i would keep reliance. for at least a month. 9 days are still remaining. and airtel would take more to resolve my issue. officially they would not change my plan before the fifth of next month. i should not be forgetting that fact.

Yeah, bummer isn't it? Wonder how long will i be able to enjoy this 600 kbps @INR 649 before i am forced to migrate to a newer alternative...

What if they some how don't change your plan? Or might put in to some other /Mb basis plan?
