In for a penny, in for a pound; you are stuck with Reliance my friend, they have already thanked you for being a valuable Reliance customer. Now you will have to apply for termination of services and pay their 'early termination charges' or keep shelling out the monthly charges month after month..about the salesman, you are never going to lay eyes on him again, another thing, canceling the cheque could turn out to be a big mistake, you did sign on the forms and provide your photograph and other details willingly, didn't you? Issuing a cheque which is not honored is considered a serious offence, what were you thinking? On the other hand maybe i am just paranoid, anyways, good luck with all that.

the check did not bounce. i had instructed my bank to stop payment on it. i believe there is a difference between the two right?

I think the liability for issuing a bum cheque or causing it to be dishonored is the same, in your case you had no just (read legal) cause for stopping the payment as Reliance had not breached any of the terms of the contract you signed.

what has happened has happened. i would deal with it properly in case reliance sends me a bill for a connection i never accepted.

----------

their email has no information...

no customer id
no connection number
no user id

i cannot even get it verified if they had activated a non-existing connection in my name.

If i remember correctly, the amount was supposed to be an advance and included the installation charge, right? Also activation is done after receipt of the same, the user id., etc. are issued only after that. Hmm..i suppose it could all go away if you stay silent on the whole thing. Maybe you will get a few calls and emails reminding you of the cheque, the poor salesman will then turn up at your doorstep and when he can't convince you, will probably go back to report and get fired. Yeah, i don't think Reliance would bother with it after that. Don't worry about it too much, i was half messing with you, just remember mum's the word till you are directly confronted.

hehe. i cannot trust reliance to forget me so easily. i am going to have nightmares until i get a confirmation that this account does not exist in their system :D

don't call them asking for information on your connection and if the call comes from reliance , just tell them that you won't pay as you did not use it . after 2-3 calls , they'll stop calling you . they did not terminate my connection till last week although i applied for termination of the connection @ last week of may .i didn't pay for the connection after 22nd may and they seem to have no problem with it now plus i recieved a confirmation of termination of service a week back .the funny thing is they only took their modem from me and not the phone which is better than what airtel is providing and you have to buy it @ Rs 500.
