Let me boost the B.P. of those who have A.C. from era before the STAR Ratings came into real marketing.
Every A.C. is a Star Performer if you take into consideration 2-3 basic things.
1). Clean the Air Filter and Cooling Coil Fins atleast once a week in Summers.
2). Block any possible Air Leaks in the Room, Closing doors and
windows but still having half a inch GAP is gonna cost you money.
3). Get your A.C. Serviced Before and After Season Running for optimum output and efficiency, and if possible do get the Temprature Sensor Checked
and Forcefully Replaced every 4-5 Years.
In my case my Bed room A.C. (
Samsung Window 1.5T) which works like hell every summers, Kids, wife and even myself throw ourselves for more than normal hours cause we think its better to pay for electricity than to get caught with heat stroke and blah blah blah
Being a mad technical head (gone bad by now) I do lot of electronic stuff operations even assemble few of my circuits etc etc
I recently noticed my Bedroom A.C. was not tripping as frequently as I should be, temp set to 26, and room was quite cold to be at 26
So I unscrewed the front panel and changed position of sensor, it helped a little but not to my satisfaction.
So I made up my mind to replace this sensor and then think of anything else.
The culprit, didn't consulted anyone, just went to the spares shop and asked for one, He denied as send the mechanic I told him you are already
in front of that junk head, he laughed and handed me over the replacement @ Rs.75/-
And the New One Installed by I, Me and Myself.

Not to mention A.C. is better since this replacement, and earlier on a day with 47 degree my A.C. tripped earlier after running compressor for long long time like 1-2 hours without a break and used to rest for 30-40 minutes and room becoming extra hot then only this beast started compressor again, since last 2 days, this is better and we don't have that 30-40 minute cooling outage anymore.
Still those who can afford, go and buy the 5 Start Thingy while I am sure my little tweak should be enough to save a couple of electricity units.
