hi friends,
greetings

am hvg home plan 500C - enjoying the NUL
and keep my chargeable usage with 1.5 GB.

unfortunately, in Jan2010, the usage went to 3.5 GB
(as the utorrent scheduler was not activated; children on vacation used the net during daytime very much etc)
fine.
so i shd hv bn charged for 3.5-1.5=2GB @ 80 paise
correct?
but my bill reads as follows:

BB fixed monthly charges jan10 500
educational cess 0702 3.29
secondary.... 1.64
BB usage charge Jan10 1364.80
ECS discount -16.60
Discount on BB usage 310110 -204.72
Service Tax @10% 164.35
Total call charge 0.00
Net Amount 1813.00

Am unable to understand the calculations for the 'Red' items.
Would someone explain to me. Thanks in advance

one more query.
My new home PC SMPS is 400 W.
I keep the PC+peripherals including modem (only monitor switch is putOFF) on from 3 am to 7.30 am
(almost 4.30 hours)
plus 2 hours a day for normal pc work, or games
say 4.30+2=6x30=180
that is 150 to 175 hours a month
what would be my electricity consumption particularly on this usage
for this 150-175 hrs, how many units would be added to my electricity bill?

thanks again.

PC power consumption varies from system to system. If you have a p4 machine, 1 x HDD and a CRT monitor then the power consumption could be between 100-150kw/h. If you have a UPS then the total system could consume between 150-200kw/h. ADSL modem consumes not more than 10kw/h. 2.0 speakers consume 50-60kw/h depending on volume levels.

Basically, a computer uses around the same amount of power your refrigerator(new power saving models) uses. Your computer could be adding around 75 units in the bill every month. New computers gobble up even more power. New processors or more processing power means more power consumption.

Maybe you should try getting a nettop here
