MUMBAI: The outgoing Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sharad Pawar launched the BCCI’s site Board of Control for Cricket in India - Home. The site will feature deferred streaming video and mobile content apart from a live scoreboard available online, official photographs, player interviews, profiles, schedules, statistics.
The site will provide all these digital assets to Indian cricket fans globally. Global Cricket Ventures, which will carry out this exercise, is a joint venture between NetlinkBlue Holding, a global provider of technology and enriched media and digital solutions, and Live Current Media, a media company built around content and commerce destinations.
The 10-year agreement between Global Cricket Ventures and the Board of Control for Cricket in India includes building and managing the official IPL site (IPL T20) and the official BCCI site (Board of Control for Cricket in India - Home).
Pawar says, “I am extremely excited to announce the launch of the BCCI’s official website which will leverage technologies to bring the Indian Cricket fan even closer to the game. Online and mobile video is fast becoming an increasingly popular medium as video-enabled mobile devices and faster broadband internet speeds enable a 'second screen' experience for users to interact with live action any time, from any location that fits their needs."
Global Cricket Ventures president Satyajit Swaminathan says, “Global Cricket Ventures has a shared common vision of delivering premium experiences to cricket fans across the globe by extending an interactive experience into an enriched fully immersive realm. The inaugural DLF Indian Premier League season has already displayed the power of a passionate fan base with the IPLT20.com site ranking within the top 350 most highly trafficked sites in the world.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will meet the officials of the Indian Cricket League (ICL). The decision was announced at the end of the first day of the International Cricket Council (ICC)'s two-day board meeting in Dubai.
David Morgan, president, ICC, recently met with Subhash Chairman, chairman, Zee Entertainment and other ICL officials in London, during which he was handed an application for official approval of the tournament.
At the ICC board meeting, it was resolved that Shashank Manohar, president, BCCI, will meet the representatives of the ICL, following which he will provide the ICC board with a written report of those discussions.
"The ICC Board received an application for approval from the ICL. The Board resolved to adjourn its considerations to allow for discussions between Shashank Manohar, president, BCCI, and representatives of the ICL. Manohar agreed to provide the Board with a full written report of those discussions in due course." an statement from the ICC said.
The board is then expected to take a decision on officially sanctioning the ICL which is currently into its second year and is a rival to the officially-sanctioned Indian Premier League (IPL). The ICL runs parallel to the commercially successful IPL, which is owned by the BCCI.
Kapil Dev, executive board chairman, ICL, said, "This is a positive step. I think if you want to sort out any issues, you've got to have a dialogue. You really can't assume things without talking to the other party. If the ICC wants to talk to resolve the problem - and I really don't see any problem because all we are doing is promote the sport - then a dialogue is most welcome."
The ICL has not been sanctioned by the ICC, and most players participating in the tournament have been handed lengthy bans from international cricket by their respective boards, barring the exception of England.

Discussions between the BCCI and the ICL have failed, officials from both sides confirmed, putting a question mark over the league's bid for official recognition. A terse statement from the Indian board did not offer any reason - N Srinivasan, BCCI secretary, said the two sides "failed to arrive at a common ground" - but said there were no plans for any further meetings.
ICL officials, meanwhile, described the meeting as a "farce", and said the BCCI came up with "an offer during the meeting that was simply not acceptable". "It didn't look like the BCCI was ever serious to resolve the issue," an ICL official told Cricinfo. "We will now have to look at other options, including the legal route, as the way forward."
ICL sources said the meeting between Kapil Dev, its chairman, Himanshu Mody, its business head, and Shashank Manohar, the BCCI president, took place at the coffee shop of the Taj Hotel in New Delhi and lasted barely 15-20 minutes. "It was ridiculous, the way the BCCI went about this meeting."
ICL officials had told Cricinfo before the meeting that they hoped the BCCI, as part of a possible solution, would lift the ban on their players from all forms of cricket, grant them access to all cricket venues, and stop "arm-twisting" the ICL's sponsors.
Manohar had agreed to meet officials of the unsanctioned ICL, for the first time since the league was set up in April 2007, after its request for recognition came up for discussion at the ICC board meeting in Dubai earlier this week.
Since its inception, the ICL has seen strong opposition from the BCCI, which has banned players associated with the league from all forms of official cricket and barred them from using any of its facilities. The ICL has, meanwhile, been pressing the ICC unsuccessfully for official recognition of their venture for several months. Subsequently they requested the ICC for a meeting, and Subhash Chandra, who owns the league, met David Morgan, the ICC president, in London last week to present its case.
The ICL believes that it has a strong case for recognition under Rule 32 of the ICC operating manual that deals with authorised unofficial cricket such as the Hong Kong Sixes event and the Stanford 20/20 in the West Indies. However, two senior BCCI officials - Manohar and Lalit Modi, the IPL chairman - are on a five-man ICC sub-committee that has worked on modifying the rules for official and unofficial cricket.
