Hi guys After I lodged a complaint at the BSNL CC regarding my modem restarting on power-cuts (even on connecting it to the UPS), they checked my modem & they said I need a new modem. BSNL will obviously give me another SmartAX MT-882, but I want to know if there's anything better that BSNL offer. so please recommend the best modem that the BSNL arsenal has to offer :P

It's a very good modem no doubt. But it restarts on power-cut (though connected with UPS).My UPS is a cheap local made UPS .So I think you need a good UPS.

oh so I'm not the only one having this problem with the MT-882...Any suggestions on a modem that does not restart on little electrical noise/power-cut.P.S: mine's a good UPS from APC... if the modem restarts on that kinda UPS, it obviously means the modem is shit... and that too my UPS is pretty new (barely 6-8 months since I bought it), so it cant have a weak battery already.

From @sumeetb1978.
No 5 modems (2 D-Link DSL-502T, 1 Dlink 6402T, 1 MT841 and 1 TP-Link (dont know model no.)) work on offline ups. No problem. I have tried the ZTE behind an online ups and it works well. But the online ups is not mine and I am not going to buy an online ups just for the modem. The ZTE does not work without disconnections behind the offline ups. That is where the problem lies.
What is common between MT882 and ZTE modems?
MT 882 needs 9V AC. from adaptor. What about Mt841 from same Huawei ?
@sunnykinger Interested in a simple project and experiment ?

nobody has suggested another modem :huh:I want to ask BSNL another modem, I think that's the only way I can solve my problem.

alright I asked them again, and they say that the only type-I modem they can give me is the Starcom UT-300RTU or something.I heard one of those modems was crap(no NAT,no DMZ,no nothing) & one of them was good, which is the one I should insist on?

Starcom UT-300RTU is a decent modem.Infact its firmware is identical to Beetel 220BX1.:)
