Bir_P & netfreak if you'll are around....around gow much would i be paying totally every month , For an airtel unlimited 256 or 512 kbps connection ?

thanks.

Rs. 999 if you do not make any calls and take a zero rental plan.I paid Rs. 850 for installation (includes the no-rent telephone instrument and modem on rent) today in Gurgaon. Should be same at your place.Damn, I think I could have negotiated the installation cost :Pthey dont have 512k unlimited sadly. at affordable prices at least .

i'm in bombay and i've never heard of Sigma broadband. Be careful. Anyway, I'd say Exatt ( Xbroadband ), YouBroadband( ??? that was previously Iqara or something ?? ) is your best option. If you're ok with NU plans, MTNL does an amazing job!

hi sushub,
I checked their site..& asked since there were diff costs involved & was a bit confused. - thanks for the reply. The 700 Flexi plan of theirs is 700 per month & bandwidth upto 256kbps

Max, yep I haven't heard of it before either..anyhow last i checked..their site was off. is exatt, good now..don't know....I had them before & in the beginning they were good. - my local p[rovider doesn't seem to have exatt - there's another that has it.. but their networking is screwed..& it was a nightmare last i tried. & exatt doesn't take any responsibility for that.
Pity MTNL doesn't have unlimited plans in bombay they have one in delhi I think..last I checked on their site.

well the tata people phoned me today (forcing me to take a 3 months plan....) Looks like another month with them of course i'll be taking the the 1 month plan.

which mtnl plan you have..
any other suggestions, keep them coming.. since I'll change from TATA at the first chance..
thanks for the replies & support.. guys..

laters..

if u need the connection for broadband only dont go for the flexi plan. just get the pure 256 unlimited. 900 for net 99 rental for modem,

MTNL's DSL 590 NU. Its a very good plan :) Even Airtel is good but they haven't got their network in most parts of Bombay yet!

Sushub there didn't seem to be such a plan..for mumbai..
at least from what i checked on their page
there were 2 other ones, one has a traffic limit & the other is unlimited @ 256 kbps, same as the flexi700,..but that one costs 1200 or something...

Max, thanks for the info i checked out the 590NU plan. - the good thing about it is its night unlimited, otherwise 590 is very expensive for a 1 GB traffic limit. - still an inconvenience for me though. wish they came out with a proper unlimited plan
BTW any idea whether these Data limits include upload & dload or just dload..meaning if I dload 256Mbytes & upload 256Mb, is that counted as 512Mb ?

Max also any idea whether they open ports & such ? - I know a router is used, but it still needs to be open at their end.
(we have another box at our place that i've set up & they will probably get MTNL)

I suppose it differs & depends on everyone's usage, but personally I think..their rates are very smartly setup &..are in no way reasonable..though people may not realise it, especially with the increased speeds. - they kinda juice the public as long as they can. - for example the DSL TriB1199 is Rs. 1199 & the data limit is 2GB . That costs more than most unlimited connections @256kbps. - Now with an unlimited 256kbps connection you'd probably be able to dload that much in 3 days (i think ? broadly speaking ?) & still have the rest of the month left..

their infrastructure has long been setup & if anybody,...then their rates should be much cheaper.

thanks.
