I have a BSNL broadband connection and it was working fine till I have changed my hard disk due to some issues. After that I have changed the hard diskand when I am trying to connet to broadband its not working. Can anyone plese help me to solve this by telling the possible solutions. Should we write any IP addresses in the explorer or something like that

Well we need to first know as to how you were connecting to internet before changing the Hard disk ?Was it always ON - You turn the computer ON & the internet starts works automatically- or -When you turn the computer ON, you would double click on an icon & dial the broadband connection with a username & password.with this information i can assist your further:)

members/arungrulz/Welcome to broadbandforum.co(1)When you changed the Hard disk did you load drivers for your ethernet card/?(2)Start/All programs/Accessories/Communications/ Network connection wizard.(3) Modem if old settings worked , no change needed. mention model.

Earlier, I used to SWITCH ON the modem and internet will automatcally get connected. no need to type username and password.the modem is that of Huwaie..I am using windows xp, so it should take the driver automatically I guess. Now what will be the other issues?

Check if there is a lan connection in your Network seetings folder.-If its there, switch on your modem, open Command window on RUN-Type ipconfig/all-see whether if broadband is connected or not.-if its showing connected type ping ur ip address(ping 192.168.1.xxx)-see whether its getting connected.

No guess work. The ethernet card(realtek etc need drivers which have to be reloaded again )
Start/Local Area Network/Lan Properties/ TCP/IP page
Does your ether net details appear on top with "configure"?

Hope you know how to check the driver is installed or not. If not,

Right click on my computer and click on properties.. (or window +pause keys)

Click on hardward tab, then Device manager

check is there any 'other devices'

If it is not installed, install that first by clicking update driver on Ethernet controller.. and point to the driver cd location.

If you have already installed the network card, refer the above mention posts.

all the best
