Hi,I am currently in US and will be returning to India in a few months time. I am planning to buy a new laptop and all laptops sold here come with windows 7. I was not sure if internet service providers in India(BSNL, Airtel, Tata Indicom, etc) have the software drivers to support windows 7 for their modems, routers? Please clarify. Thanks,Anand

I am not sure what you are hinting at. However, many users in this forum, including me, have been using Windows 7 without any hassles. There were no updates made to our modems etc.

Everything works very well.Is he talking about Photon + sought of stuffs??

as long as you are talking about router based broadband, any OS would work. usb support is hard to confirm right now.

it should not be any problem. Go ahead and buy the lappy with windows 7and yes one more buyer of genuine oem windows 7 in the gang , keep going!

Hey thanks for your replies. My friend in Chennai said that the BSNL modem is not compatible with windows 7. Does any of you use airtel broadband with windows 7? This will be my primary machine and I may not have a desktop.

see there are two ways of connected to the net. one is through USB where you usually dial. the other one is through ethernet cable where the modem usually dials. so if you take the ethernet route, you can essentially use ANY BLOODY OS on your system.

If you see my profile, I do. But the point is, like admin said, are you looking for details on a USB?

unless your isp has some sick software to login , you need not worry about windows 7 compatibility.Sify uses some bad software to login and you may have problems with windows 7 . but I dont think you actually have to worry on this subject as there always is a work around.
