All broadband prices will be decreased in coming dayS as govt. is planning to remove service tax on BB plans. So our bill will be free from the taxes that are applied on the plan. This will be done after the new bill will be passed .

Do you honestly think that airtel will lower prices?

Which new bill in parliament is coming?? i don't see any bill regarding service tax abolition on BB.Besides to remove service tax on BB the govt doesn't needs to pass a bill, only a notification from CBTD would suffice, which can be issued very swiftly

This is India. Not gonna happen. And even if happens, the sucky providers will "adjust" the prices to get their money.

12 percent would not drastically reduce your Internet bill. 200 rupees on a 2200 bill today.

Service tax goes to government not operators. It would reduce their paperwork.

Every Paisa which is made less is more savings .. Other way to look at it is that if you do get 200 rs off on 2200 bill means in a year you would get 2400 off which technically gets you one month " free " ...

It does not magically make broadband cheap for the masses which is what the need of the hour is. Removing a minor tax just means government looses their share of the booty. Isps are and would still be allowed to increase prices at will. My point is that this is being considered in the name of boosting broadband penetration in the country. Which is not really going to change because of this move.
