Now 3G signal is receiving at Karur. But officially not launched..

i receive a notice whith my BSNL bill it show bsnl 3g has be lanched in salem in month of april .thets good news.and i want to know distance of this 3g signal is availlble 50 km or less 50 km?

Can anyone comment on how much 'uplink' speed we get on BSNL 3G ? Thanks.

Not sure, but i remember about some speed tests revealing the max to be around .3 mbps

With my wired BB down, i finally bought the 3G sim and the Teracom (rs 2500/-) USB datacard. Browsing speeds are quite good and I think the download speeds are marginally better than what I got with wired broadband. I downloaded a 19MB file from sourceforge.net and it seemed very fast! I guess we will never really know for sure because the marginal differences if any, are hard to detect with the "speedtests", given the variability in internet traffic over time. I am considering surrendering my wired broadband if the earth-movers keep coming back to the city time and again!!

Today after a lot of struggle, I finally managed to find a BSNL stall where they were selling the 3G SIMs. I enquired what documents they wanted, and asked him till when he would be around. He assured me it would be till 6 PM - I asked this around 1PM. I go home, collect the documents and return to the stall at 3PM, only to see the chap has left. No wonder the BSNL guys suck.

hehe. if bsnl cared they would not spend money on padukone and the 3G ads... they would make their 3G cards accessible. this is the reason why i am on a 2G connection on my phone even though 3G is available in my region.
