BSNL Broadband: Broadband router sends data continuously

Hello friends,I use Home plan of DataOne. Recently I upgraded my OS to Windows XP prof. corporate edition with Srvice pack 2.After connecting to the internet my modem continousluy sends data even if I am not surfing or downloading. It is consuming my data transfer limit very lavishly (approx. 150kbps or more). please help.-Ravindra

Right click on task bar > select task manager > processes

Possibly a malware. Run full system scan. Use a good firewall. Zone alarm will be fine. It is free too.

My broadband router model is smartatx882. I am not sure exactly.
