BSNL Broadband: connecting two pcs to adsl modem?

Do not dial. Just switch ON the modem, wait for 5 minutes and check if you are able to connect. If not, you have not properly configured PPPoE mode.To enable DHCP. Log in to your modem, browse through the pages. You will the option.

how to configure server computer :1. connect phone cable in the modem.
2. if u have type 2 adsl modem, connect ur server pc in one of the ports.
3. go to 'my network' option.
4. right click on it.
5. go to 'property'
6. select local area network
7. right click on it
8. property
9. select 'general'
10. go to ' internet protocal'
11. select it
12. click on 'property' bottom in ur right side.
13. click on 'use the following ip adress'
14. ip adress : 192.168.0.1
sunet musk : 255.255.255.0
difault gate way : blank
15. select : 'use the folowing dns adresses'
keep all of it blank .
16. click on 'ok'
How to configure client computers :
3. go to 'my network' option.
4. right click on it.
5. go to 'property'
6. select local area network
7. right click on it
8. property
9. select 'general'
10. go to ' internet protocal'
11. select it
12. click on 'property' bottom in ur right side.
13. click on 'use the following ip adress'
14. ip adress : 192.168.0.2 ( u can use 2 to 254 in the last section)
sunet musk : 255.255.255.0
difault gate way : 192.168.0.1
15. select : 'use the folowing dns adresses'
Prefered dns server : 192.168.0.1
Alternative DNS server : Blank
16. click on 'ok'
Repeat the same procedure with other client computers.
How to connect a switch ;
connect a cable from router with server pc ----> conncect another cable from the routher to ur Switch ----> connect other cables from switch to client computers.
How to Share internet :
after connceting cables with computers, do as follows:
1. Go to My network places
2.Single Click on the Internet Connection ( Having ur given ISP name )
3. right click
4. property
5. Click on "advanced" option
6. Click on the check box "allow other network................. "
now ur networking is complete to use. Connect power to Router Modem, switch, and computers.............. enjoy.
Pls Tell if any corrections needed in this.
Do i also need to do settings in modem panel?like you said configuring in pppoe?

1.You appear to be in DIaler mode. Change to " Always On" PPP/PPPoE
( enter userID and Password in WAN page of router).
2. The Default gateway ( modem/router) should be same for both computers.
3. START NETwork LAN or WLAN ( for each computer)
properties.
Network settings page
Uncheck box IPV6
Select TCP/IP
properties
select Obtain Ip address automatically.
Apply Save.\.
( assumed you have enabled dhcp in LAN page of modem)
4. Give feedback to verify
ipconfig /all
5. Mention OS used in each computer. ( desktop or laptopwith WIFI adapter)
1. Go to My network places

First of all i want to tell that my both comps are well connected by LAN.Only Cant access internet on my second comp.
Second thing is My server comp has OS WIN 7 and client comp WIN XP.
In 2 step you are saying to enter the default gateway value in both PC as same and again in step 3 you are saying to set "IP address auto".Then what should I do?Should I enter manually the values of IP,Gteway etc..or set Obtain Auto?

There are two ways you can connect to internet:-1. Bridge/Dialer mode:- In this mode you connect to internet by dialing the connection from you computer and modem acts as a transparent bridge and PPPoE session terminates on your computer and public IP address is assigned to your computer and your computer is visible to the rest of the internet.In this mode to share internet one computer is to be configured as Internet Connection Sharing Host and it must be always on to have internet connection on other computers. There are security risks in this mode.2. PPPoE Mode:- In this mode dialing is done by the router and user id and password are stored in the router itself if you just turn on the router it dials the connection and obtains the public IP address and the computers connected to it can share the internet irrespective of the other computer is on or not as long as the router is on the computers connected to it can have the internet and the router acts as a firewall between your lan and public internet. The internet can see your router and can not see the devices connected behind the router. This is more secure and preferred method to share internet connection on multiple computers.

To share net between two machine you need to be in PPPoE. Some how your configuration is not working. Just find a guide/ tutorial for configuring in PPPoE and you are done.Check the image I posted. You will find an entry called 0_35. " Edit " it and change into PPPoE mode.
