Reg. D-Link 502T, it is too early to conclude that the unit is defective. Many of us are not that much expert in giving opinions. Dlink being such a big company would not bring outsuch product with such problems. As claimed earlier, if the problem is of mac address, then resetting it would do. As they are selling the unit for both windows and mac/linux users all over the country, you can not claim that it is not working or defective. Many members, even after such a long helpful directions, fail to configure it correctly and also the BSNL people are also at fault in giving directions about their side of the settings makes matters worse. So think before, going for any action against Dlink.

THANKS to harman163 i am able to connect with the pppoe mode instead of the previous bridge mode. but still after changing the mode of connectivity ,ie, from the dailer mode to the always mode, i have same problem while trying to download a file. with the browser the file starts and stops after 10-15kb`s. but in the download manger it goes up till 96-98% and stops. the problem is somewhere else then, which i am not able to find out. Can Anyone guide me please?

Update on D-Link GLB 502T. Just got a call from D-Link yesterday. They have removed the firmware glitch and all new units will be shipped with new firmware with the PPPoE patch. I have patched my router from Dlink service centre and its working fine now. People who have ADSL light blinking problem , use BEETEL phones , they dont mess up with the ADSL frequency. I have removed my old instrument given by BSNL in which , as I lift the receiver , ADSL light starts blinking and I have to wait for a min. This is not the case in BEETEL phones , even if I lift the receiver , ADSL light still glows.

^ DMZ option should be available in Advanced settings .
[/b]

there is no such option in the advanced settings or anywhere. Do you know what he meant by configuring DHCP?

Its in Advanced>Port Forwarding.Enter Ur IP like 192.168.1.2 in Lan Clients then u can use Port Forwarding.

@coolguygprs
I hv only changed my DSL Mac Address nothing else and didnt have any problem with PPPoE and whats the purpose of using DMZ along with Firewall also turned on.R u sure the Ethernet Mac Address should also be changed.

@ new guy , DHCP is used to assign IP addresses to hosts
or workstations on the network . it is not required here .

as harman said , DMZ is a firewall configuration for
securing LANs . I dont think it is compulsory here .

i noticed only 1 change after enabling DMZ , the adverticements on the webpage which were not appearing , have started to appear. Whats the use i am still not able to download
