Hi everyone,

Can anyone please help me comprehend these charges in my first bill? I had payed 500 bucks with the application form for new connection and applied for Broadband under 750 Combo UL plan after 10 days when my phone got connected.

Monthly Fixed Charges: 84 (I think they have charged normal phone rent for those 10-12 days when my phone was active but broadband wasn't activated because otherwise my BB plan includes phone rent)

Local Call Charges: 57 (Right as my BB plan doesn't include any free calls)

Debits: 2622 (Now please help me understand this charge. I have applied for Type-2 modem worth Rs 1600 on outright purchase. What could be the other charges included in this Rs. 2622 debit)

SR Taxes: 110 (Tax on what?)

BB Charges: 750
--------------------------------
Total: 84 + 57 + 2622 + 110 + 750 = 3623

-Regards,
Akash

That is a VERY good question, becuase I myself was about to post a very similar post. I had opted for a rs. 1200 modem purchase.. but am not sure what the more than 2k debit is for in the bill.

Debit includes Modem Charges + Installation Charges+ Security DepositYou have to Give Service Tax @ 12.36 %Even you give tax on eating its just that its included in MRP

I got my first bill and this is how it looks like.Telephone related charges:Telephone rent = 180 (one india plan)Telephone calls = nil (didn't exceed 50 free calls)===========Total = 180===========Broadband related charges:Modem Cost = 1200 (outright purchase / model-dna-a211)Modem installation charges = 250Broadband rent = 90 (pro rata basis for 12 days / 250 startup plan)Data usage allowed = 396mb (pro rata basis for 12 days / i used 350mb)===========Total = 1540===========Tax @ 12.56 = 216===========Grand total180+1540+216 = 1936===========

Debits: 2622 (Now please help me understand this charge. I have applied for Type-2 modem worth Rs 1600 on outright purchase. What could be the other charges included in this Rs. 2622 debit)

SR Taxes: 110 (Tax on what?)

The modem will attract 4% Vat. From the amount 2622 it looks like you are charged the old rate of type-2 modem 1800 + 72 (VAT) = 1872 + 750 (Advance monthly rent) = 2622. You are been overcharged by Rs208/-(you can complaint this to Accounts officer in BSNL)

TAX @ 12.36% is been charged on 84+57+750 = 891. Here you are charged 2% more as now Service tax is 10.36%. I do not have your bill date so you better check what was the service tax when this bill is generated.

My first bill was Rs 2000/- plus, though I have not purchased the router from BSNL :oDo not worry ....If you have opted for Local+STD facility there is security of Rs 1000/-Installation of Rs 250/-And many more ...........Better goto ur exchange and they will show you the complete detail bill (i had done th) And have peace of mind as BSNL is a PSU not PRIVATE company. I HATE PRIVATE BANKS, PRIVATE TELECOMMUNICATION COMPANIES :ashamed: as they are NOT transparent.

@essbebemodel-dna-a211 comes under type-II category. It has 4 ethernet ports and one wifi.Plz note that currently the BSNL website says 1000 / 1600 / 1000 / 1600 respectively for the four modems. Three weeks back it said 1000 / 1200 / 1000 / 1200 on the website.The banner in kalyan's BSNL exchange says 1000 / 1200 / 1600 / 1800 respectively. That is why i have been charged 1200 for this type-II modem.
