Since the past month, things have been going erratic. Firstly, when I switch on the modem, for the first few minutes the link keeps failing and it keeps reconnecting. For example, about half a minute after I switch on the minute and it makes the connection, I dial the account and open a site in the browser, and it works for another half a minute, after which the Link light on the modem goes off. Then it takes a minute to a minute and a half during which it keeps trying to connect. Once it connects, again for half a minute it works and the line drops. This happens four or five times in the beginning, and then it starts working normally. A long time back, this same problem had occurred, and Essbebe had suggested using TZ Connection Booster, which had solved the problem but this time around, even that is not helping.

Many times however, the line keeps getting disconnected, now and then, after I have been using it more half an hour. At this time, it will try to connect and keep failing, and finally after a few tries, it will be able to connect, but when I dial the connection, the dialer stops at the connection to WAN Miniport point. It will show the Link as connected, but it will not be able to dial up to BSNL, no matter how tries I make. I've also tried using the repair option in Control Panel > Network Connections, but nothing happens. The modem remains frozen in this position, and then I have to switch it off and turn it on again, and it starts working again. During the daytime, I could manage, but particularly since the past three days, it has been happening in the morning, during the free download time, and since I've scheduled the downloads to run from 2:15, they start and then stop (one time I woke up at 5:00 to find 127 MB had been downloaded and then it had frozen up :@).

Here's the SNR values and stuff:

please post the normal picture. ( not thumbnail )Anyway SNR is very low. 6.5 db just working level. poor. Attenuation 38.5 dB Poor Line conditions are bad. Recheck all connections/contacts and complain to BSNL CC.

For some reason I can't get the entire image to display on this page, only the thumbnail. I tried the img, /img method (with the square brackets, the way it is supposed to be) but it still gives only a thumbnail. But you can always click on the thumbnail, then the full image opens :) Or is there a rule against thumbnails?I am going to contact the BSNL office today, but what I'd like to know is, the problem I talked about, of the modem freezing up and requiring a reboot, is it all related to a poor connection? And how come Connection Booster is not working this time? The last time it did. I tried all the options in the beginning, when it asks what kind of line you, LAN or DSL or anything else.

Agree. If I don't log in. also different browsers used.
is there a rule against thumbnails?

NO. Most welcome. But many users may skip your post !
The reason pictures cannot be embedded in the post ,
is because of the size involved. option NOT available.

Connection Booster is not working this time?
TRY tcp/ip optimizer from speedgiuide.net.

In File load website they give many options , including link for thumbnails.
click this and see.

I finally got the whole image into the page. I've been posting pictures on forums for quite some time, and I've never had any problems. Don't know why it wasn't displaying properly today.I'll definitely try TCP IP Optimizer. Thanks a lot! Let me hope it solves the problem like Connection Booster did the last time around. But I think I'll have to call the BSNL guy as well, since as you said, the line condition is bad.btw, the new forum layout looks real great!
