Hi,I have recently purchased a laptop and I am trying to connect it to my ADSL router/ modem wirelessly ( Quidway WA1003A Series). I am using the same router for my desktop with which it is working fine with Lan/ USb cable, but when I am connecting the router using a lan cable it works perfectly fine. But when I am trying to configure the laptop with the router wirelessly it is not working properly. It does show that it is connected to the modem however I am not able to surf any websites. Kindly help me with the exact steps to configure the wireless connection with this modem. Thanks

in your laptop , go to the command prompt(start->run and type cmd) and type ipconfig and post output also type ping 192.168.1.1 and post output here

I am using the same router for my desktop with which it is working fine with Lan/ USb cable,

modem access 192.168.1.1 for LAn and 192.1681.2 for USB
Connect only one connection to Desktop.
Post Ip config/all for desktop. after reprogram
but when I am connecting the router using a lan cable it works perfectly fine("for laptop")?
post Ipconfig/all for laptop after reprogram.
Your Ipconfig/all for LAPTOP does not show you are connected even in LAN mode !
1.Follow the wiki link and Repost Ipconfig/all. Better try "AlwaysOn" connection"
2.Enable DHCP server in modem/router .
3.In TCP/IP obtain Ip address automatically.
3a. Disable IPV6 in TCP/IP properties of LAPtop.
4. In laptop ( VISTA OS ?)Start/ Network/ wireless net work any connection shown ?
4a
Start/all programs/ accessories/ connections/ Wireless Network connection wizard.
Follow instructions.
5.169.254.84.51 bad setting ! Should show 192.168.1.X ( 3 to 20 say)
6. Confirm you OS is XPPro for desktop and Vista for Laptop.

Apologies for the confusion
" I am using Quidway WA1003A ADSL Router Series with my desktop which I am connecting either through Lan cable or through USB cable, the connection works fine, I can use internet normally with any problems. Destop has Windows XP- Service Pack 2.
My Laptop is Compaq laptop; OS is Windows Vista Home Basic.
When I am using the same router as mentioned above with laptop and I am connecting it either using USB or LAN Cable it is working absolutely fine without any problems.
But only when I am trying to connect the laptop wirelessly with the ADSL router(WA1003A) then only I am not able to connect to the internet.
Once I am enabling the wireless button of the laptop it is identifying the network as WA1003A and when I try to connect after 1-2 tries it does give the message "connection successfull", but none of the web page is opening, when I am trying to surf the net".

Hope this clarifies your querey. Kindly let me know the reason.

Hi,
I just tried to configure the network adapter of my laptop but it is affecting the LAN connection. Once I configured the Network adapter TCP/ IP settings I was not able to connect to net. I had to disable the connection and had to go back to the old connection.:wall:

Hi,
My Broad Band connection is working fine when I am setting the TCP/IP to automatic mode.
I am posting the ipconfig/all report for the laptop. Would be posting the ipconfig/all result for a desktop in a short while.
