BSNL Broadband's new revolutionary (lol) broadband plans with minimum 2mbps speeds (lol)

Not happening. Most of these reporters just rewrite the press releases without getting into the details.

For further clarification.

State-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Monday raised broadband Internet speed to up to 2 Mbps of data plans with 512 Kbps and 1Mbps speeds.

This will however be effective from October 1, 2015 across the country and it will be applicable to pre-FUP (Fair Usage Policy) data consumption.

The 2Mbps speed will be available for 1GB or beyond plans and it will be throttled to 512 Kbps after reaching the cap.

The speed upgradation, according to BSNL will benefit new and existing broadband customers.

BSNL has become the first service provider in the country to launch broadband services and launched landline services in 2005 with 256 Kbps speed based on Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) based technology.

The telco currently has nearly 10 million broadband subscribers with more than 10% in rural India.

Earlier BSNL has launched free night calling and free incoming roaming services to its customers.

I'm just waiting for BSNL to declare bankruptcy..so that private players could pitch in
Lol..last time post FUP speeds were revised was like 4 years ago when I had joined this forum..
 
Instead of giving us 2 Mbps for pre-FUP bandwidth, they should have increased the minimum speed to 1 Mbps.

This is a very stupid decision and people will be more angered by this instead of being happy.

Once people realize that 2 Mbps bandwidth is consumed within 1-2 days, they will curse BSNL even farther.

Very stupid decision. But this is BSNL, what else can you expect ?

Very valid point. They could've at least increased Data limit by few GBs. But 1 GB Data limit is absolutely pointless on wired Broadband.

I think BSNL has no strategy to make a comeback in Broadband market. I think they're going like Kingfisher Airlines. Piling up 1000s of crores of losses and coming up with foolish schemes which fails to attract customers.

I wanna see BSNL make a comeback. But they are not interested in that. Its also a failure of our Govt. Does our telecom ministry and telecom Deptt have a plan to revive BSNL? Or they're just waiting to see BSNL go bankrupt like Kingfisher Airlines and then auction its assets to other telecom companies.
 
I saw the article in ET and thought that the post Fup speed is now 2Mbps, but the link posted in #34 clearly says otherwise.
There are only 2 plans where the speed is i512, so what is the big deal?
The Bsnl top brass is trying to show that they are doing something when they are doing nothing.
