Guys I have a BSNL FTTH connection and as you all know the connections from the main fiber are usually split and then given out to users. Lately I was having a word with the LCO regarding ping or possible way to reduce latency. So, after much discussion, I got to know that presently there are lot of users and the connection has been split to cater to users. One of the solutions he suggested me was getting the route of the line changed. Meaning he will give me a direct fiber line which will be connected to the main line and this dedicated line won’t be split. He suggested me for 4 core or 6 core fiber and of course this will run a long way up to 1 Km. The cost is upwards of 10K depending on the fiber core (4 or 6 core) I choose. This will sort of be like a leased line and since there are so split happening with other users, this will help me with the better connectivity. I was just curious and want to hear it from you guys. Is this arrangement possible and does it really help.? Is this what is called as point to point leased line which also mentioned on BSNL website under enterprise section. Please guide.

Nope,this won't help unless your line is saturated. Also,it ain't worth it. 10k of your own fiber, latency won't improve. Only your speed may see improvement but most probable cause would be olt uplink being saturated instead of your line being saturated.

You don't need 4 Core / 6 Core OFC cable, same can be done using 2 Core Cable as you will be the only one using it. He is scamming you ,He just want you to pay wire cost which he will be using to give other connections.
Even if you get a dedicated cable from your home to his OLT ,the PON Port will be same for you and 127 other subscribers ,Only difference you will have is better Rx /Tx ,which can sometimes improve speeds /latency. In sort not worth 10k.
If you have other ISPs available ,try them rather than wasting money here.

There was this one guy on here who wasted 1lakh on BSNL thinking his LCO love him and he is doing this for the country and stuff but this LCO took his stuff and used it for others. LOL

I do understand above feedback shared above. I am presently on 40Mbps plan which was earlier 30Mbps post upgrade from 1st Nov. I noticed after a week, there was considerable variations in speed once BSNL upgraded the plan. Even other users were facing similar issues. The Rx levels when checked were closer to -24. I had multiple discussions with LCO who suggested, taking / changing the route through which my connections origin. I am not sure how much of difference it makes in real life. I also understand there are quite a few users using BSNL FTTH simply because the local ISP plans are not really attractive and there is no Jio / Airtel or major ISP except BSNL. Does having more users through same line cause congestion to end customers? Does this happen on fiber connections?
More users can cause congestion ,if your LCO doesn't has the required uplink. Its simple demand and supply. Most LCOs give more than the recommended connections to maximize profits.
Plus ,more the number of splicing being done greater the chance the end users will have lower Rx Value.
But ,most of the modern ONT/ONU has threshold upto -27 to -29 dBm.

At this point try contacting BSNL directly, tell them your doubts about the LCO not having enough uplink. Here atleast the LCO guys panic whenever I book a complaint directly through BSNL, they've always said afterwards to contact them first.
