BSNL FTTH flyers sent by email to Bangalore Broadband Users

Nice. Many may fall for ping and may be better line condition.

Yes, i heard a lot of getting actual promised speeds as well

Pictures will be posted tomorrow. Infact my setup is the same as one of the threads from a while back about a review on FTTH in Gurgaon. So you guys could have a look at that thread while I get permission to open the shaft (for images of the box and cabling) One more thing, FTTH requires electricity from the client side. The modem is connected to a box which can provide backup for about 6-8 hours (tested by me) . So if you live in a place where the electricity goes off for long periods of time, I don't think this would be feasible.EDIT - I forgot to state the fact that upload speeds are unrestricted and can go upto 7 Mbps :D useful for seeding

Certainly something I don't like. Does it draw power from our line ?

Great feature.

The tariff seem to be very very expensive ! BSNL really needs a competition to cut down the prices.

Yes it does draw power from the our home power outlet like any modem would do. The landline is where the difference comes in. Copper landlines do not require electricity from the client side, but a ftth landline requires that the modem be on at all times. My setup is similar to the one here. Except for the fact that I haven't gotten the modem wall mounted and my landline phone is a different model. https://broadband.forum/showthread.php?t=69864

They'll start moderating the uplink speeds the moment they discover the blunder. This seems similar to the concept of internet connections back in late 90's & early 2000's when most providers were not limiting upload speeds & we were getting 1mbps+ UL on a 256 or even 128kbps planSent from my GT-P1000 using Tapatalk

I've recently got FTTH installed at my place. If you've got any queries, you can ask me.
