Brings back classic old debate of IPTV over internet Vs IPTV over multicast. In early days it used to be a major consideration but couple of years back Govt allowed delivery of IPTV live TV channels over TV apps instead of only dedicated STB. Eventually it will be app on these android TV / streaming sticks and likely over regular internet instead of multicast. Just makes overall delivery easier.
Small update. I borrowed a Firestick from a friend to test if the app runs on that. The version of Skypro IPTV app in the app store is older than play store. On first run, it showed that I need to connect to Skypro network, a bit confused, I thought it was due to app version being older maybe. Later, I discovered that it needs BSNL DNS to play channels.
I also copied both new and old apk to run on each device, Shield and Firestick to see if the app runs but the app closes after the initial app loading screen on both devices. Each device you install and activate the app on gets an STB Id and once activated you can't remove and add another account to the same device. You may have to mail Skypro support to get that removed first.
