Isn't labeling any new plan as "promotional" standard for BSNL announcements? I seem to remember this being the case for them, including region specific plans (like those being given only in AP etc.).
The way I understand it is that all new plans are "promotional", for a period of 90 days, I guess in order to fulfill some type of feasibility requirement. After this period they either make the plans permanent, or keep extending the promotional period.
Does anyone know of any case where BSNL introduced a plan for a limited period only, something like a few months, and then removed it?

well if that's true... and is applicable on my plan... i might finally be able to open Gmail after getting FUPed! Partayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

UPDATE:
Now Guyz those have 256kbps FUP speed..From 1st June Will Get 512kbps...
I read that news as well, same source as the one for this thread. However, this muddies the waters even more. It will be strange if both news are true. If the 1Mbps and 2Mbps post-FUP plans are true, then a lot of plans in the 512Kbps list don't make sense.
Having a plan that gives 4Mbps till 30GB, and 2Mbps after for 2345/- makes the 2250 plan worthless (1Mbps till 100, 512kbps after). Same with the 1250/- and 1500/- plans being made obsolete by the 1445/- plan.
Damn, this is making me worried that the previous news, about the higher post-FUP speeds might be incorrect.
