Also prices on SAFE are insane - even more insane than on SMW4 and others. We think Indian telcos are greedy: let's take a moment of silence for South Africa!

Which According to you is the cheapest Submarine Cable? and it seems like SMW4 is being repaired near Bangladesh Bangladesh sees near-2 hr Net blackout | Bangladesh | bdnews24.com

Somewhere i read that EIG cable is also costly?

Why use VDSL2?

VDSL2 provides the best possible speed that the line will support.

Up to 40Mb downstream

Increase in upstream with up to 10Mb (compared to ADSL Max 800Kb & ADSL 2+ 1.2Mb)

Run more bandwidth hungry applications

For the cables run by Indian companies (SMW4, EIG, i2i, SEACOM, TIICS etc) there isn't really any distinction in price: we take a price from some source to some destination and which cable is used in the transporting the traffic isn't really discussed.

Since SAFE isn't run by Indian companies (although I think Tyco/Tata built it), its run by Telkom S.A, we know what the prices of SAFE capacity are, and they're hideous.
