Buy modem from MTNL delhi?

Hey guys, i am broadband user of MTNL on 599 combo unlimited plan since feb 2009. I am paying rent on wifi modem every month. But now i wonder that the cost of a modem has actually been paid by me as a rent to MTNL. So i am thinking of buying modem to stop paying monthly rentals. Is buying possible from MTNL? can they provide modem for purchasing to me. has anyone ever tried this?

Even I am paying the rent for the wireless modem for more than 1.5years now. What pinches most is the 10.3% tax every month on the rental. Their should be some way out of this. Their is a purchase option for BSNL customers. Similarly MTNL should also sell the modem to the customers.Their is no wireless modem in such quality & price available in the market.Please do let us know if anyone is aware of any option available.

In Mumbai the Unlimited plans do not have modem rent (should be the same in Delhi) that could be the easiest option, else you can buy your own.

better if you buy good modem like D-Link or Netgear
Had bought D-Link modem 2 years ago. It busted after 13months. Dont have much confidence on D-link.
Haven't used Netgear.
MTNL modems are excellent. Had no problem with them whatsoever. Have used both wired & wireless.
Presently using Wireless modem with 4 ports for wired connection. Good modem.
Dont have similar option in the market.
Netgear or D-Link would cost 3K+.
BSNL is selling Wireless modem similar to MTNL for Rs1500.


why are you paying for MODEM Rs.49 buy your own....
Presently paying 83Rs per month as rent.

Please let me know if you know of a Wireless modem in the price range of MTNL modem.

We have 3 wireless modem with MTNL connection at my office in Delhi.Model HG 520Price : 1400 - 1600 Rs. (Nehru Place)
