@hardcore_gamer some bsnl users in other locations have reported this works for them... I am in Pune and it doesn't work for me.

I think it's been blocked in some NOCs (data centres) and not in others 😕

it'll slowly drift out of sync when you turn off your pc. kinda stupid especially considering this isn't a problem on other ISPs.

i am confused about this. isn't bios battery supposed to keep time? but then i suppose... operating systems have maintained time for such a long time, that we do not really notice cmos battery not able to maintain time.

on pi before i went for a fresh reinstall, i had to run a command at boot to fix the time. it was a very simple linux command that basically fetched time from any web server instead of relying upon ntp protocol.

i am also confused why they have to use a special protocol or port or whatever bsnl is blocking here. time updates should be doable over http! should read through this thread to see what exactly is bsnl messing around with.

there are tons of mini apps online that can sync time at boot and then exit automatically. but if they are also using ntp and ntp is being blocked by bsnl, they probably won't work either.

great then just sync the clock once and remove VPN

Even simpler is to use this tool called NetTime to sync the time instead of jumping through vpn hoops.

Anyway I regularly boot into linux which automatically syncs the time successfully so not much of an issue for me.

Just wanted to see if bsnl would fix their blocking or windows would fix their ntp port.
