check bsnl 3g speed before buying a 3g modem.

I request all bsnl 3g user to check present bsnl 3g speed before buying any 3g modem.

I was planning to buy a 3g modem having 21Mbps DL, rather than 7.2Mbps DL speed, but just then I thought to check with bsnl customer care that, what the actual speed they are providing, then the guy in bsnl cc said that, it is 384 Kbps to 2Mbps. I asked him which one is download and upload speed and what Kb and Mb stands for KiloByte/MegaByte or Kilobits and Megabits, they guy said we have only this information, it is 384 Kbps to 2Mbps.

I asked him is it same for all India? yes.. he said.

BSNL is slowly upgrading their networks to 21 mbps. Operators like docomo, airtel and vodafone are also in process of upgrading. So, its sensible to buy a modem (which will be a one time investment) which supports upto 21mbps. So, go for a 21 mbps or higher modem and you wont need to upgrade in the near future.
