they are being paid for appearance. not for performance. they are more like guests not like players. if u have guests in house, u (morally) treat all same.
in chess they both are almost at same level. in boxing too, player is awarded a fixed amt, win or loss doesnt matter.
its like movies. movie goes hit or flop but actor is still paid the amt decided.
chess is more like rich ppl's game, everything is rich. lots of arrangements are made just for the room where they play.lots of facilities provided.
