Heh. You're probably saying that based on hearsay. MTNL is quite fast these days. Any day faster than reliance. And among rcom, airtel and mtnl, mtnl has the best plans.

Thank you. That was pretty comprehensive. So if I take YOU BB I'm unlikely to have the Internet in the night again? Preposterous. FFS, I might as well just go for a landline. Thanks again. I understand the miserable situation much better now. "NAVI" Mumbai my ***.

As mentioned, if it is indeed SSV that is failing to operate during the night, then yeah, you can expect the same behaviour from whichever ISP you choose that uses SSV's infrastructure, and as such, you're basically forced to go for an ADSL connection from MTNL - or, if available Airtel/Rcom/Tata.

Ah, I'd forgotten about Tata, do go for it, if its available , else mtnl

I definitely have my work cut out for me. Everyone I've asked IRL has advised me to go for MTNL. I'll update this post on how it goes. Thank you for your time and patience.

Just an update. I finally decided to give YOU Broadband a try. And besides a couple of small gripes, I'm quite okay with it. Their speeds are satisfactory. I won't say I'm ecstatic, but a lot happier than I was with shitty D-Vois SSV. There have been a couple of days when there's down time or one can't connect, but their customer care is pretty helpful & they SMS to inform about downtime. I can't be too sure since I haven't used it more than a month, but it's a hundred thousand times better than D-Vois SSV. Hopefully, this thread will help all you Internet-stranded in Navi Mumbai.

My experience with you telecom was good.I used it for 2 years couple years back when I was in Frazer town,BangaloreSpeeds were good, pings were ok and at that time the plan was some 500 rs or so at like 256 kbps which was upgraded to 512 kbps and it was both unlimited.Generally no problems came but when they did they would resolve it soon.

That's reassuring. So far, it's been the case, but it's only been a month so I hope it lasts!

I've been using Reliance netconnect & it has served me well. Can reccommend this. Have previously used tata's landline broadband but that was way back so can't really say that feedback on that would be relevant.Had also used You telecom's broadband for 7 years but lately ran into a serious trouble of late. Wouldn't absolutely reccommend them!I had been using a pre-paid connection (6 month validity) with them. It worked fine, with only a few downtimes, but overall good connectivity. Then for some reason it wouldn't connect. Whenever i called their customer care they would say "underwater cables issue". My usage is limited to weekends only, so after a few weeks i realized it really couldn't be 'problem with underground cables' and put in a complaint. Logged in 2-3 complaints thereafter and asked them to give entension equivalent to the period i did not receive service. They suggested that i should get a dedicated modem. Paid for it and got it installed. After 2 days connection goes off. Thats when the chase and the heartburn started.Lots of phoe calls, being directed from one person to another ... to cut a long story short ... they offered me 5 days of extension!! Hilarious if not tragic. They simply don't understand the concept of 'Service not provided is service denied'. Or don't care.So if this can happen to a customer with a 7 year relationship, what can happen to you? :)I'm actively considering MTNL broadband now.Hope this helps.

I have a local Cable ISP by name of OM STAR broadband......they manage two connection Syscon and Nivyah.............they provided me Syscon connection ....... i m using 1 mbps UL for 700 rs .since 6 mnth now ..never had a downtime more than 10 min or so .....

i m very much satisfied abt thier service..only bad thing is No DC++ .....

you can go for their higher plan if you want more speed

2 mbps UL for 1500
4 mbps UL for 2300

i tried 2 mbps for 1 mnth and speed was really good ..I used to get above 250kbps constant download speed but then since my req is less so shifted back to 1 mbps
