I have been looking at the Nokia C7, Samsung Ace & Samsung Wave II as a replacement for my existing phone. As I mentioned https://broadband.forum/nokia-india/69068-nokia-drops-ovi-branding-replaces/ post #2 that the retailers/dealers try to ‘guide’ you away from Nokia towards an Andriod phone (not that I need this ‘guidance’).
So it’s between Ace & Wave II. My neighbor has the Wave I & I kind of like it but a bit skeptical about Wave OS (Don’t know what the future hold kind of thing).

Ace seems quite decent; the main attraction is in case of a worst case scenario I can always root it. Also update 2.3 is in the pipeline.
And I am using MyPhoneExplorer for sync & backup purposes it will soon be supporting this phone too so I won’t have much of a headache in transferring data from a SE K750i to Ace.
But when I browsed thru the Andriod forum I was shocked by this Randomly Turning Off? - Android Forums. Had even considered the Samsung Galaxy Pro but dropped the idea soon.
Does anyone here, who might be using it, have had this problem? If so what is the solution/work around? Those mentioned on that site don't seem to work for some. Frankly I have had enough in hanging/restarting of Nokia S40, Nokia S60 & Sony Ericsson java phones so was looking for something where this might not happen but it looks like a pipe dream.

A friend of mine got an Ace a few months ago. I've played around with it extensively. It is significantly better than any Nokia at a similar price point.

Avoid the Ace. It is just not worth its price. The C7 is a much better bet at that price range. It is a fantastic phone. Better display, though lower on resolution compared to the Wave, better GPU, better camera, NFC support, and USB on the go. Also comes with out of the box Flash, Adobe Reader and QuickOffice. It has S^3 and you need to see some of the QT based apps that S^3 has. Much better than what you get on the Wave IMO

The specs looks good on paper, have seen it with a colleague, it looks great. . My main worry is the future of Symbian :). I had heard the MD of Nokia India saying they would at the most support it for 2 yrs :( WTF. What do people do after that, if something goes wrong? :cursing:

You are not the only one who is inclined towards Ace, it indeed is a good looking phone. I would have spent +3K just for it's looks, to be really honest, as I use my phone just as a phone. And when I saw Wave II, N8 looked like a toy phone in front of it. So, yeah, if OS updates is not an issue, go for Bada.It depends on how you use your device IMHO.

Who keeps their phone for more than a year/ year and a half anyways?? In any case I doubt there are any significant development changes possible after 2 years, that will happen even with android, the older phones with older fw are now obselete.

 My current Sony Ericsson K750i is in its FIFTH year with no real problem (it also came with an external flash then, some ltd edition) but keeda kaata hai so was thinking of changing :D

My boss' boss - bought Wave II yesterday & it looks really good - Although, its tough for me to get a full on hand experience for obvious reasons.
