Connecting Laptop to LCD TV

I want to connect my laptop to my LCD TV. I have a cable which i attach in S-video ouput socket in my laptop, and the other goes in RGB socket in the TV. There is also an audio line, which goes from headphone socket in laptop to the audio socket provided below RGB in LCD in the PC in column. Now when i started my TV, and switched it to PC in mode, i am getting No Signal, although i am able to hear the songs which i play on my laptop , from my TV's speakers. only the video is unavailable. Whats the solution to this ? Also, do i have to do something software related on my laptop to transfer the display from laptop screen to TV ? i am noob to this and haven't connected my laptop to an external display source till date. Plz help.P.S - The TV is Sony - KLV - 32V300A

Go to display/videocard properties. see there. There will be some options to connect ur laptop to TV there

yaa, Mostly TV out is not on by default. You need to enable it ffrom video card properties.

right, enable tv-out in software, or probably pressing one of the "Fn" keys to switch video output... also, for the LCD tv, "pc in" may not be the one, there may be another "A/V in" or "Component in" if you are using the RGB "component" connectors...

i tried this video card thingy, LCD TV is not appearing in the properties.@ Vishal,The LCD TV has RGB port in the PC in mode only. Also, currently the cable i am using, is S video on one side and RGB on the other side. I tried to connect RGB to laptop, and S-video to TV, but TV's S-video socket does not accept this cable, its a bit different from the Laptop's S-video socket.Now, i want to ask, if i get a cable with RGB sockets on both sides, and then connecting to RGB ports of TV and Laptop, will it work ?Another question :- Are cables available, with RGB ports on both sides ?P.S :- Laptop is HP nx6120

One of my friend says, my laptop should be equipped with a good graphics card to connect to Sony Bravia. Is it true ?

@dark_horizon cables are available for that... the PC mode on LCD TV only works when you connect the display cable from laptop monitor port to the LCD's PC input port (digital video input). if you want to output from S-Video, the size of the port on the laptop is different from the TV. adapters are available for that also. for this you need not enable PC mode. yes it will better with a good graphic card for higher resolution LCDs but still onboard can display at its maximum resolution anyway... you r in mumbai so it will not be a trouble finding these adapters from your local electronics market.

^^thanx for the reply.SO what do u suggest.... should i get S-video cable or go for RGB cable ??Which one would be better ? WHich one would give a more clear picture on the TV ?

I think they are both comparable, but S-video may have a slight edge if I am not mistaken.Also, to solve your problem, take a look at where you are plugging in the RGB cables in your TV (at the back presumably) - and it should say something there along the lines of AV1, AV2 or something like that. That's the name of the channel you have to turn to in order to display your picture. (i.e. it may not be PC-Input).

Hi, I have a question, maybe a stupid question.I have a PC with wireless keyboard and wireless mouse. I am sure that if I buy an LCD TV, I will be able to connect the PC to it and use it as my monitor. (A real thriller, when I play my strategy games). The problem is the connecting cable. My TV is not in the same room as my PC and laying cable all the way through is impossible. Is there any way to have a wireless link from my PC to the LCD TV? (Hey hey hey , please stop laughing, I know its stupidity ). But if possible, it will be very much beneficial, I can take my keyboard and mouse and start gaming/surfing on my TV. Just a thought, a dream.!!!
