Considering buying Spectra. Need some advice

So somehow I am able to access my Plex server connected to Spectra from the internet without any sort of port forwarding or configuration. I just enabled remote access from the Plex console and it just worked magically. I am curious how that works, it seems to be a combination of uPNP and NAT-PMP. :eek::geek:

Btw I just noticed that Spectra gives Rs 500 credit if you use a referral to take the connection, so let me know if anyone is interested, I can refer you. (PS I will get a Rs 500 credit too :D)

Also, a little worthy side note - from the looks of it I believe they block incoming ports, no dice after messing with the port-forwarding settings on my router, my plans of setting up a dedicated Plex Server went kaput :confused: maybe someone else has more knowledge regarding this, I'm not doing the port-forwarding right ?

P.S : I'll post here if I come across any hitches :) It's been only 11 days since I got the connection, consumed over 1TB :p

So apparently Plex works out of the box auto-magically, it seems to use uPNP + NAT-PMP (so as long this is enabled on the router) it just seems to work and you can access Plex from the internet without any issues.

BTW, have you got hit with a data cap yet, or is it still unlimited for you ?
 
Same here, Bill just renewed today as well (Monthly Subscription)

I got Plex working :) If anyone's curious about how to do it, on the D-Link DIR-825 the option is under Advanced > Advanced Network > Enable UPnP IGD

However custom port forwards are not possible, it needs to happen through the NAT-PMP process. I am guessing it actually negotiates the port to be forwarded, automatically selecting an available port. (for eg, if the application wants to forward port 33333 from the internet and if 33333 isn't available or in use by another customer, it perhaps provides an alternate port and sets up the port forward).

So for things like Plex this is more than enough but say you want to run a website or something, it wouldn't be practical.
 
So yesterday I was trying out port forwards on my router and surprisingly it works, I doubt whether they are doing some sort of 1-to-1 NAT? Or maybe cause there are sufficient public IPs available to allocate in my area and they do 1-to-1 NAT.

I was able to forward port 80/443 as well and ran a test site as a POC -- https://minipc.varkey.net/ however from some geographic locations the connection times out I am guessing they block traffic from certain locations.

To be clear, I still get assigned a private IP but port forwards automatically work. Public IP --> Spectra Private IP --> My router --> My devices.
