I would like to get some reviews on Cooling Pads for Laptops. My Laptop is getting very hot these day and to protect it from getting damaged it shuts down itself after 2 or 3 min of working. Any suggestions.
the reason i posted the above link is that, cooling pad is not the only solution. there are others as well. In most of the cases, cleaning the lappy does the trick(atleast for me it did, 5 laptops). the results of cleaning the vents are much better than cooling pad. also i use 12 cell battery in 3 lappy which lift it up from back giving more room for ventilation and hence more cooling and also keyboard gets nice tilt and becomes more comfortable to type.
Laptops are supposed to work 1-2hrs non-stop without AC.If your laptop is getting that hot.. that means fan is mal-functioning. instead of getting cooling pads.. first get air blower and try to get vents cleaned.search on internet for more techniques/methods of maintenance.
Well as the laptop is still under warranty I would suggest that u take it to the service centre & tell them to chk if the thermal paste is properly applied to ur processor coz 2-3 mins of running time really sucks big time... I use a 2&1/2 yr old MacBook & it runs for hours at a time without cooling pad with no prob whatsoever... Although I have invested in a nice Belkin cooling pad I bought for 800 odd bucks on laminton road... But before buying a coolin pad take it to the service centre to have it chked coz even if a new laptop starts shutting down after 1hr of heavy usage means it has some serious prob let alone 2-3 mins of running time... Ps dnt buy a china made cheap cooling pad coz they really suck bigtime... Rather invest in a solid one from a known company like belkin...
Righto. Blowing the air in the vents to remove dust has worked wonderfully for me in the past. Also having it in elevated position also helps in heat dispersion. Put the back side a thin book or something so that the base of the laptop has some space beneath it. I have seen cooling pads in the market. I do not think they are a necessity unless your laptop packs in desktop grade hardware which generates a lot of heat. Or you play games continuously on your machine which can cause excessive heat generation.
