Hi,

Does anyone have any idea if the Videocon D2H Set Top Box V-7000 HDW supports HDCP 1.4 (High-def digital content protection).

I suppose it must be sticking to HDCP 1.4 (not HDMI version) as it’s Full HD capable.
I suppose only 4K needs HDCP 2.2.

I am planning to use a new FHD 27” LG monitor (yet to be purchased) as display for my D2h STB.

It’s futile to ask D2H customer care, they won’t have any idea at all what HDCP is. I am sure of that! Thx

P.S. However, BTW the D2h STB HDMI output passes thru my HDMI to USB capture card successfully!!! So either my card is stripping HDCP or it's without HDCP. I don't know at this stage!

With HDMI to USB, is it just for viewing or recording content?
When I was testing STB many years ago, I think I was able to view content from HDMI output connected to USB interface on PC, but recording was not allowed. When I tried to record content (can't remember which software it was), error about copy protected content was displayed.

What content are you trying to record? Live TV channels?
Live TV channels may not have HDCP enabled. Its generally enabled for VOD content.

Live channels may not have HDCP enabled. But VOD content should surely have.
If VOD content (like new movies on their pay per view channels) is also able to record, then its huge piracy concern, and if movie owners come to know about it, they could sue D2H.

Ok..I do not have any VOD channel subscribed so can't comment on it. But since USB recording on STB is allowed and protected, they must be allowing it on at least STB. As I said the resulting Mp4 file is encrypted and only that STB can play it back.
