DataONE with Windows Vista?

In TCP/IP properties disable IPV6

this is the most common problem with windows vista.don't use ipv6 instead use ipv4(i think).this is why people still prefer XP over vista.

yeah its been disabled already.... i unchecked the ipvp6 in my network properties....the traceroute of hotmail.com is follows Tracing route to hotmail.com [64.4.32.7]over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 1 ms

START > SEARCH > Find files and folders
Find your hosts.txt / host.txt and delete all of them or edit them taking out Google IP's.
I would look at the C:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts file and see if there is anything there blocking google.
