I just got a 200Mbps connection and got ZTE F670LV9.0 with it which is kept on the ground floor. There is an issue with coverage as the room on the 2nd floor gets around 26 Mbps and 12 Mbps on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz networks respectively so I'm thinking of getting TP-Link Deco M4. I have a couple of (noob) concerns-

1. I read somewhere that all the satellite units must be in the range of the main unit. Is this true? In this case, will I get the full 200Mbps speed if the satellite on the 2nd floor is barely in range of the main unit?

2. Any idea how many Deco units will I need? Do I completely replace ZTE F670LV9.0 with one main unit and use another unit on the 2nd floor? Or use ZTE F670LV9.0 together with just one unit? I haven't seen many people get this ONT, will there be any issues with it?

You can just survey the house using any of the wifi scanner apps available in play store or app store. Deco mesh should work over both wireless and LAN(considering each unit has 2 Ethernet ports). For wireless mesh mode, the non-base units need to be in range of the base unit.

If you place in Central position then 1 Deco is enough for 1500-2000sqft floor.
Better place one unit in first floor to get good coverage in second floor if primary is in gf. Always place secondary in place where you get decent coverage. For multi storey house 1 unit for each floor is recommend. You can add any different deco single pack later too like deco m3w.
Also satellite need not be connected to main router though speed will reduce drastically.

Thanks! Any idea if I need to connect the main unit to ZTE F670LV9.0 or do I have to replace it? Is there a noob-friendly guide to set this up?

Thanks! Any idea about compatibility with ZTE F670LV9.0?

Before buying the mesh try to search online if it has option to daisy chain the wireless backhaul connection? My Netgear orbi rbk50 has this option so no need for every satellite to directly connect to the main router...

You cant completely replace ZTE.
Need to use it in Bridge mode as ONT/modem.
