Delhi Police News & Updates

will it not act like a deterrent to others?
Sure , but swift unbiased justice is the need of the hour. I think the new laws which were framed have put in place for these.
Lets say you were caught by traffic police for not wearing helmet , and they display your photo near traffic lights for 1 year , to deter others , how would you feel ?
The laws , punishments are for people for thier crimes and to come clean of their wrong doing. Rape , killing , etc are violent behavior , i agree , but what they need is psychiatric evaluation and counseling , which would have far better outcome for both the convict and to the society.
Now with his name printed all over the internet , along with his photo , you think he will become a good man coming out of jail ? I really dont think so. His name is spoiled , and any little chance of him rehabilitating or coming clean is destroyed.
Except for the fear of jail time, he doesnt have anything to care about.Whether he commits further crimes or not , doesnt matter. What ever he does from hereon , doesnt matter, be it good or bad.
We can even go full barbarian way to deter others by cutting of his hand , or penis , and what not.
What we need is basic sex education and more freedom of each sex to interact with opposite.

And what about innocent folks who were labeled guilty without any concrete proof? They served the punishment already I assume.

With current pro-women laws in the wake of rape incidences , these new laws have also become a tool of intimidation both by police, politicians etc , and also by certain women.
We already know how "eve-teasing" law is used by powerful people to intimidate others.

You wouldn't have said that if there was a victim you knew (I really hope there will be never, but just trying to tell you why I wrote that)
See let me tell you something out it. If it was someone I knew i would have hoped that whole world would stand still and protest till the culprit is hanged. But does that make sense? No it does not i guess. I know what they did was horrible and wrong but hanging and naming shaming for life does not solve problems. Reforming on other hand just mind.
And consider the fact that how skewed are harassment laws and the fact that they are not only going after rapist but every sexual offender.

Seriously , what is the use of jail time now? when they come out , society , world knows and remembers and will remember(from 1983...) his mistake ,no point or reward in coming clean.
Stupid move , imo.
I hardly remember random people's face or name for more than a day, don't know about other people's memory though

Sure it is but lets face it we can not have that in near to medium future.

I will feel bad and will make sure that I do not repeat my mistake or my picture will again be posted on traffic lights etc. This will also act as a deterrent to others that if they will commit such a crime their pics might end up there as well.

No matter what you say and how you judge me but the fact of the matter is I will not trust any of those people with ladies/girls in my house. I see use in the information posted by Delhi Police and I appreciate that.

To me Human Rights for criminals is an over rated concept in a country like India. I do not think a girl who has been molested can easily make her place back in our society and thus I donot think the criminal should have that right. Having said so I also understand that it is the mistake of the society which is not accepting the molested girl but till the time we can improve our society I am not in favor of criminals being accepted in the society at end of their term
Call it barbarian or what ever you feel like but please think it from perspective of the family of the victim or the victim her self and try to imaging hardships they might have to go through in our society.
