What will ideal configuration of heavy duty gaming.I have pc with following confi:- I3 Processor22" lcd aoc2gb ram1tb hard drive1 nvidia grphic card 1gbgigabyte motherboardshd i will upgrade my existing or buy brand new.what will be budget?
For most work i3 should suffice. Do not try to be future proof, wont work. I bought a i5 Sonylaptop a year back from the US for 33K INR. My friends picked up i3 laptops for 17-18K a year back. If you can source your stuff from the US, nothing like it. If you have to buy in India a desktop or a laptop, go with the commonly sold model. I spent like 1.2L on my desktop in 2007 or so all components sourced from US and the monitor from Japan...totally didnt use it. Thought would do fancy transcoding, video editing etc. Did zilch. People tend to get carried away reading forums and other peoples configurations, as happened to me. The deltapage link, you should get it about 5% cheaper than what is listed there if you visit the local electronics market.
I built a PC for mostly gaming and a little development on 1st January. For processor : i5 3570 -->12.8kMotherboard : Go for a B75 chipset with LGA1155 socket. That will be enough.I got my msi motherboard for 4k and processor for 12.8 =16.8kFor graphics I used a Gigabyte GTX 660 overclock version because gigabyte's OC version price is similar to the reference card unlike MSI and others.Overall : I got my PC for 49k (approx) WITHOUT monitor as I'm using my 42 inch TV for it.
i have i3 on laptop. I find it crap even c2d seem to do better than that in performance of basic tasks !
If you don't game, you'll notice a massive improvement in real world performance if you just install an SSD in your laptop. I was skeptical about SSD's as well, but I used a friends laptop which had an SSD installed with a C2D processor and it was VERY fast. most of the lag in laptops is due to the slow 5400 rpm HDD's.

Can I keep the mechanical drive as well as install SSD in a laptop? Like optical drive can be replaced by a SSD ?
Yes the SSD is remarkable. Makes it light, battery lasts forever and speeds are awesome. My wife has a SSD laptop and is very happy with it. It runs an AMD processor.

I don't think so. Unless the SSD fits into the optical drive port. not sure if that's possible. better to just buy a cheap USB 3.0 enclosure and use the existing mechanical drive as an external drive for data dumps.

True..I guess its time to start using a SSD
Any chances of price drop in the not so far future? Like 2013-2014?
