BSNL TN sent the following SMS today...

Dear BSNL Prepaid Customer, Auto validity extension option (deduction of amount from main account balance) on expiry of current plan can be exercised as per your need. To deactivate the auto validity extension facility, send SMS "STOP AV" to 124 and to activate the auto validity extension facility send SMS "START AV" to 124 -BSNL, Tamilnadu

I received the message on both SIMs, one that expired yesterday but got the validity extended today after the deduction of ₹2. The other SIM expires only next year. Looks like a new thing.

Yes.

The deduction has been happening for long. However, the ability to choose to stop the automatic deduction is a new thing.
