MTNL sent me another
router, but my problem persists.Since my
DNS was every now automatically changing from 203.94.243.70203.94.227.70to85.255.113.13185.255.112.20I searched my
Windows registry and found the following entries:abData=85.255.113.131,85.255.112.20 Type= REG_SZat the following places:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet005Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{24700987-2DE1-43FA-9CA8-286D0902A231}\\NameServerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet005Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{9617B399-DF45-44E0-A80C-A9567289B445}\\NameServerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{24700987-2DE1-43FA-9CA8-286D0902A231}\\NameServerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{9617B399-DF45-44E0-A80C-A9567289B445}\\NameServerEven when I delete the values for Name Server, in the data field, and reboot, I find that the entries still keep showing. The minute I connect the router, the Net Work Connection reappears and shows the same DNS and the registry also shows the same DNS. On changing it to 203.94.243.70, I am able to connect, but only for 18 minutes and 40 seconds or so. I have even tried replacing the string 85.255.113.131,85.255.112.20 with the string 203.94.243.70,203.94.227.70 but to no avail, as on rebooting the reistry still shows the old string of 85.255.113.131,85.255.112.20Can someone who knows how to edit the registry safely please advise? I am currently using Registrar Lite for these changes. In all there are 6 Interfaces, out of which 2 do not have the entries for Name Server at all, 2 have the entries, but the values are totally blank and 2 have the above values. I have run Norton (fully updated), Trend and Spybot and they don't show any virus. But in the logs, Norton Internet Worm Protection shows the following each time I log on:Internet Worm Protection setting "Port Block Allow NetBIOS" changed.Old Value: 1.New Value: 0.This definitely seems to be a virus/trojan problem and I wonder if any of you have any experience in dealing with this or could help? Strangely enough, it allows me to log in, once I change the values in Local Area Connection as I just have, but the connectivity, again, would last only for 18 minutes 40 seconds or so, maximum. Is there no other simpler way than to format the hard-disk and reinstall windows?
