Try runing them down to 0% .. does it actually cut off at 0%?Could be a battery meter calibration issueAlso, try measuring the battery voltage with another voltmeter.Though most probably, your batteries are gone
i have not really tried going down to 0%. i guess i can give it a go.
apc software has a caliberation option. i have tried running it a couple of times. it stops by itself after a while with no result.
i do not have a voltmeter or any knowledge of the technical shit
if the batteries are gone (i assume one might be dead on arrival considering it stablizes at 59%), i can probably get an easy replacement. the UPS and the batteries were ordered last month and both have a 2 year warranty.
i just need someone to confirm the problem first.
sending a mail to the APC guys with the details. i hope they have capabilities to watch youtube videos.
so what do you suggest? i try running the UPS on batteries till it dies?

the software would hibernate the machine as soon as the battery levels drop down to 5%. i can probably disable that setting. would suck if it messes up my Windows installation
You dont have a Multimeter??Anyways, disable all auto shutdown features of the UPS/PCDisconnect PC if you want to be safe.. connect a TV or something to the UPSSee how long it lasts before it gives up due to 0 batteryNote: This type of Deep discharge can damage the battery.Doing it once should not, but, since your battery seems to be on its last legs anyways, cant say for sure
