I see G on a daily basis on Vodafone in some areas, best part.. it works!
E means data connection is on EDGE network.
G could be for GPRS.
H or H+ is for 3G/3.5G which means HSDPA.

Coming back to Tata Docomo 3G, at 8 Kbps I would say its 0.5E or 0.25G :)

Yep, right UPTO for any speed then you are "verbally" free to give even 0 kbps!! :D

Beware guysI have recharged with tata docomo 250 so called "unlimited recharge" on 5th October 2012. Since then i have not been able to use it. I registered multiple complaints with them and they clarified that it only works on a Handset.. and not data card. WTF? What does tata docomo have to do with the device i'm using? I am paying for the service and it's your job to provide 3G services regardless of the device that i use. Further they even blocked my calls to 121 and 198. Dear TRAI? Are you listening? Are mobile companies supposed to block the access to 198 which is mandatory for all the operators? Below is the email that i received from tata docomo----------------------------- Email starts ---------------------------------------Dear Sir,Greetings from TATA DOCOMO! With reference to your mail addressed below and further to our conversation This is to inform you that as you are using the data card the benefits are not applicable for your number. However, we regret the inconvenience caused. Warm Regards,Appellate Authority Desk----------------------------- Email ends ---------------------------------------

Wow! So did anyone say, tata - a brand to trust?!Btw, I wonder how would they know if i have put my SIM in data card or in phone?

Yes but I doubt they have stored all IMEI numbers and compare.I think what OP got SIM card along with DATA card.So this is how tata knows. Based on number they decide if its data card number or phone number.

they are not going to compare manually in any day , some automated routine will do the job
just when he puts the SIM into the data card and tries to connect to the server he will be caught in point blank range

even MTNL have some restrictions over the usage of mtnl 3G sim in data card , read in the mtnl 3G jadoo section

Yea..MTNL doesn't have any restrictions...Trust me!! :PI've been a loyal customer of 3G for over a year now!!

When a device connect to a cell tower it sends device type along with IMEI, not just IMEI.
