@Dave Mesh depends on a number of factors - and the cheap ones generally only have dual band. Thus, the 5ghz band carries both client data and mesh data, and easily gets choked. The ones you need to get are the triband ones, where there is a dedicated band for the router/satellite to communicate with one another, leaving a 2.4 and 5 ghz band available for client data.
Then there's the matter of what format they support - a/b/g/n/ax, how is their penetration (specially wrt Indian walls), daisy chaining of satellites etc.
